CORC hosts discussion of children, young people and their families’ outcomes and experience of mental health services
Panelists from Place2Be, the London Borough of Newham and the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust joined Professor Miranda Wolpert and Young Advisor, Amy Feltham at a seminar to discuss the outcomes and experience of children and young people’s mental health services on Friday 9th December.
The Child Outcomes Research Consortium (CORC) hosted the event which brought together child mental health practitioners, service leads, researchers and commissioners working across the statutory and voluntary sectors to discuss and question the findings from a new report, Child- and Parent-reported Outcomes and Experience from Child and Young People’s Mental Health Services 2011-2015.
Professor Wolpert presented findings from the report – the first of its kind – and outlined how routinely collected information on outcomes and experience can lead to more precise health care for children and young people attending mental health services.
Attendees at the seminar also took the opportunity to discuss implications of the report’s findings for conversations between funders and providers of mental health support, supervisors and practitioners, professionals and the children, young people and families accessing services and between the mental health sector and the wider public.
"[There are] huge implications for mental health professionals and YP and families. It's important to find a way to be more transparent about outcomes" said one participant.
Further seminars are planned in Leeds and Birmingham on 19th and 26th January. For more information and to register to attend, please click here.
